Lifetime achievement award Sue Gibbs

Once every ten years the Willy van Heumen lifetime achievement award is presented to a researcher with a special track record in research to Replace, Reduce and Refine animal studies.

On December 12, 2023 Sue Gibbs was awarded with this price for her scientific contribution to reduce the use of animals for experiments, to educate students and young researchers on animal-free methods and to communicate to increase awareness and visibility of animal-free alternatives.

Midterm Self-evaluation LymphChip

Three NWA-ORC consortia: BioClock, LOSS and LymphChip met November 25 at the Lorentz Center in Leiden for a midterm self-evaluation to work towards societal impact. During the day best practices, challenges, needs and actions were discussed by young and senior researchers and by representatives from co-funding and cooperation partners.
Inaugural lecture Hans Bouwmeester LymphChip

On November 22, Hans Bouwmeester, PI in LymphChip presented his inaugural lecture entitled: “Is complexity always better? Connecting cells to systems in toxicology”. Within LymphChip, Hans Bouwmeester takes the lead in the development of an immunocompetent Intestine-on-chip model.
